Eight hours a day...

For whatever reason, I was randomly contemplating the possible purposes of corner time while I was at work yesterday.  Having not been put in the corner since I was around seven, it's not like I have a particular inclination for or against it, but I've been reading about it on a few blogs recently.  So, when my mind decided it needed a break, it wandered away from my pressure vessel drawing that I was working on to the merits of corner time (sigh, of all the things that could have popped into my mind...shakes head).  Now, I don't recall getting very far in my momentary lapse of daydreaming, because when I came to my senses and glanced up, I was immediately overcome with the following thought, "Why on earth would I want to do corner time at home when I stare at this eight hours a day?!"

As you can see, behind my computer monitor is a perfect 90° corner that gets plenty of use when I'm bored...

  1. Hey, there's the perfect solution for bottoms who hate standing in the corner! Just take a little tablet or your iPhone or perhaps a Kindle there with you. Keeps you entertained while you stand there feeling like a dummy. :-)

  2. Erica - LOL, some how I don't think the Tops would agree. I can just imagine the look one would get if caught in the corner with a phone...not to mention the ensuing punishment (in addition to whatever got him/her in the corner in the first place). Should anyone try this, just remember I didn't give you the idea. (innocent smile) It most certainly would not be my fault! (points finger at Erica) ;-)

  3. Corner time is one of those things I'm still kind of 'meh' about. I have a bunch of little kids, so quiet time by myself is more like a luxury for me! :) We have incorporated a version that works for us, which is basically to just remove myself from an obviously escalating situation and sit in a chair (or on the bed) in our room to focus my attention inward and try to keep my growing agitation in check. I've agreed to strip down if he asked me to, because I think the added vulnerability would be useful, as I can get wound up pretty quickly and lose any sense of submission. But anything more than that (like being ordered to stand in the corner) would be difficult for me to take very seriously.

  4. Brat - We've never tried it. If I reach the point where I need to step away from the situation, I usually regret walking away the minute I turn around... I'm just overcome with frustration about the situation and then overwhelming guilt for deciding to walk away. I think I'd rather remain in the same room (corner or not) in silence while calming down...otherwise, I start feeling abandoned, which isn't the case, but it in turn induces a fear I just can't explain.
